Do You See: Droppings, Live or Dead Rodents?
CALL FOR A RODENT INSPECTION!!!
Rats often cause electrical fires in buildings by gnawing through plastic electrical junction boxes. Rats must constantly gnaw on hard objects to cut back their constantly growing incisor teeth.
In addition, they live in the most unsanitary places and are carriers of serious health risks to humans from their droppings and constant incontinence (they use urine trails to find their way in the dark).
There are two pest species of rats commonly found in domestic and commercial premises – the brown rat and the black rat. The identification of each species is essential to formulate an effective control program.
Where do they live and breed? Rats and Mice live in drains, under concrete, in sub-floors, and in garbage refuse areas, kitchens, roof voids, and other areas where a potential food and moisture source is available.
Rats and Mice often become a serious problem in cold winter months when they seek food and warmth inside buildings. They may suddenly appear in large numbers when excavation work disturbs their in-ground nesting locations, or their food source is changed, such as rats feeding in school premises may enter adjoining properties during the school holidays.
Professional knowledge of the rodent’s habits is essential to eradicate a problem, for example, rats avoid bait touched by a human hand – they have an acute sense of smell “cunning as a rat”.
Pest control and Termite options may include the use of sticky traps, mechanical traps, and the selective use of the latest generation rat baits. Any rat baiting program should use safety dispensers placed in areas and is secure from access by children and pets – such as in a roof void and sealed sub-floor and/or storage rooms.
Sanitation / Housekeeping: Rodent pests thrive where food and water are readily available. All foodstuffs should be kept in sealed containers or rooms. Garbage and refuse should be similarly stored. Water and food bowls for the pets or otherwise should not be left out at night as this will encourage a rodent infestation in the building.
GOPHER PEST CONTROL
In warmer areas like Southern California, Gophers remain active throughout the year in irrigated landscaping, especially if you live around a golf course. Under these conditions, they have a tremendous reproductive capacity, with females capable of bearing 3 broods per year (an average-sized brood is 6 to 7 young). In non-irrigated areas such as natural fields, their reproductive cycles correlate with rainfall. There isn’t a lot of rain in the desert which is why typically only one generation is reproduced per year during the spring months.
At CaliBugs Termite & Pest Control we use the latest technology to rid your property of those burdensome and unsightly gophers. We use the GopherX Gopher Elimination System:
In some cases, death may arise to people who are allergic to the bee venom or who are bitten by the swarm of bees in large numbers.
Bed bugs are well known as annoying biting pests, and they are increasing in importance, including in hotels and other lodging establishments in the U.S. We encouraged you to learn more about the biology of bed bugs and their association with homes, apartments, hotels, and lodging establishments. For more information go to https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/bedbugs/index.html
ARE BED BUGS A PUBLIC HEALTH RISK?
Bed bugs require blood in order to reproduce and complete their life cycle. The effect of bed bug bites varies among people, but they eventually produce red welts that itch. The bites themselves are not painful and typically are not felt. However, frequent feeding can disrupt people’s sleep and make them irritable, and seeing bites may cause emotional distress in some people. Heavy rates of feeding can result in significant blood loss and eventually lead to anemia, especially in malnourished children.
At least 27 agents of human disease have been found in bed bugs, including viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and parasitic worms. None of these agents reproduce or multiply within bed bugs, and very few survive for any length of time inside a bed bug.
There is no evidence that bed bugs are involved in the transmission (via a bite or infected feces) of any disease agent, including hepatitis B virus and HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
HOW MANY TYPES OF BED BUGS ARE THERE?
There is only one species of bed bug in Indiana, Cimex lectularius. This species is a pest of humans worldwide, including the entire U.S., and has over 50 common names, among them “mahogany flat,” “redcoat,” “wall louse,” and “bed louse.” A second species of bed bug, Cimex hemipterus, is limited to tropical regions of the world. A third species of bed bug, Leptocimex boueti, lives with and feeds on both humans and bats in West Africa.
